Despite already knowing they had failed to qualify for the 1976 European championships, the Republic of Ireland turned the style on in this encounter against Turkey at Dublin. Don Givens was in outstanding form for the Irish as he scored four goals in the match and came close to adding even more. It was their finest ever in a European championship match at that point in time.
