The Republic of Ireland got off to a fantastic start in the 1964 European championship qualification matches as they stormed to a fine 4-2 win over Iceland in Dublin. The Irish took the lead after twenty minutes as Cantwell scored for the Irish. He added a second later however Iceland stormed back as Jonsson scored two goals for the Icelandic’s. Tuohy and Fogarty capped off a spectacular night for the Republic of Ireland make it to 4-2 to the home team.
